The main goal of any lake or pond aeration project is to move the largest amount of water with the least amount of horsepower while requiring the least amount of maintenance. Many brands and types of aeration diffusers are available in today's consumer market. An informed customer is by far more likely to make appropriate decisions to insure a healthy body of water. Our Aeration Systems feature Vertex CoActive Airstations and are designed exclusively for ponds and lakes. All compressors are housed in lifetime warranted rustproof cabinets with oversized cooling fans and GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protection.

A single Vertex Coactive Airstation can circulate a minimum of 2778 gallon per minute at 1 cfm at a water depth of 12 ft. This equates to 4 million gallons of water turnover per day per diffuser. By comparison, many competing products, including the popular Aquatic EcoSystem ALA-4GL (fig.1, lower right) airstone diffuser delivers air to the pond water through glass bonded silica airstones which require a lengthy removal and cleaning process. (see maintenance of air diffusers from AES for ALA_4GL Diffuser Manifold). In addition, this particular unit will only circulate approximately 1250 GPM at 1.5 CFM in 12 feet of water. A CoActive airstation Vertex product (fig.2) provides provides more than twice the circulation with far less maintenance and a five times longer warranty. Most other rubber membrane diffusers are constructed for the "wastewater" industry. Most require lots of air (2.3- 9.5 CFM) and horsepower (1/4 - 1 HP) and omit the water turnover rate from their specification.

Pictured here (fig.1) are two diffusers by Ecologix. The upper left is a Ecologix 520- 21 inch and according to the Ecologix web site requires 5-9.5 CFM. The lower left is an Ecologix 350 and according to the Ecologix web site requires 2.3 - 5 CFM. With Vertex's efficient 1 CFM system requirement you could place six Vertex CoActive Airstations (fig.2) in a pond and circulate 24 million gallons of water per day where you could only place one or two 21 inch Ecologix diffusers with an uncertain water turnover rate. These two Ecologix diffusers were removed from ponds due to the mismatched manner in which they were professionally installed. They may be great wastewater diffusers but are inefficient pond aeration diffusers.

The round airstone (fig.1, upper right) is a popular airstone supplied with most Windmill type aerators. Even at maxium CFM (1.5) this airstone produces huge inefficient air bubbles that move very little water needed for proper aeration. This airstone is a good unit for northern  ponds that want to keep some open water in the winter when not a lot of aeration is needed.

We realize that it is vital for our clients to have solid, scientific data to accurately design and size their lake aeration systems. To our knowledge, no other lake aeration manufacturer has performed independent testing on their diffused air system's ability to circulate water. (Click here for Vertex independent test results) Vertex produces the most efficient diffusers on the market today. A Vertex Air 3 aeration system for example has rocking piston pumps of 1/3 HP and will produce 4.4 CFM of air at 20 PSI and will circulate 4 million gallon of water at a 12 ft depth per diffuser for 12 million total gallons. It never requires cleaning and carries a 5 year replacement, "no questions asked", industry leading warranty.
